Rotless — Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what happens to information when you use Rotless: Brain
Rot Test (the “App”, Android package com.rotless.app). The App
is published by Isaac Efraim, an independent developer (“we”, “us”).
The short version. Rotless has no accounts and asks for no email address. Your first name, your 35 quiz answers, your Rot Index, your streak and your reminder settings are stored only on your phone and are never uploaded to us. The single thing that leaves your device is purchase information, and only if you buy a subscription or the lifetime unlock — that is handled by Google Play and by our subscription provider, RevenueCat.
1. Information stored only on your device
The App saves the following locally, in your phone's own app storage:
- The first name you type during onboarding (used only to personalise on-screen text)
- Your answers to the 35 onboarding questions, including the age range you select
- Your Rot Index score, attention-age estimate and Screen Time Autopsy
- Your rewiring protocol, streak start time, daily pledge state and milestone progress
- Your reminder preference, and a one-time flag recording that the in-app review prompt was shown
- Any messages you type to the in-app focus coach
We do not receive, see or store any of this. It stays in the App's private storage area, which other apps cannot read. Uninstalling the App deletes all of it permanently.
2. Information that leaves your device
Only purchase-related information, and only when you start a purchase or restore one.
| What | Who receives it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase history: which Rotless product you bought, the transaction receipt, purchase and expiry dates, trial and renewal status | Google (Google Play Billing) and RevenueCat, Inc. | To take payment, to unlock premium features, and to restore your purchase if you reinstall or change device |
| An anonymous app user identifier generated by RevenueCat on first launch, plus the IP address of the request (from which RevenueCat derives a country) | RevenueCat, Inc. | To attach your purchase to an installation so the App knows whether premium is active |
The anonymous identifier is not linked to your name, email address or any account, because the App has no accounts. We never see and never handle your card, bank or payment details — payment is entered inside Google's own checkout screen and is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy.
3. What we do not collect
- No account and no email address. There is no sign-up, sign-in or password.
- No advertising. The App contains no ads, no ad networks and does not use the Android advertising ID.
- No location. The App requests no location permission and uses no location API.
- No camera, photos, microphone, contacts or calendar. None of these permissions are requested and no such code is present.
- No device usage tracking. Rotless is not an app blocker and does not read your Android usage statistics. Your Screen Time Autopsy is generated purely from the answers you give in the quiz.
- No crash or analytics SDK. As of the effective date above, the App contains no crash-reporting SDK and transmits no usage analytics.
- No selling of data. We do not sell, rent or trade any information about you, and we run no advertising or profiling on you.
4. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules a single daily reminder at 20:30 on your device. This is a local notification generated by your phone. There is no push server, no push token is created, and nothing about your notifications is transmitted anywhere.
5. The in-app focus coach
As of the effective date, the focus coach runs entirely on your device and replies from a built-in library of responses. Nothing you type to it is transmitted. If a future version connects the coach to an online service, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the App will make that clear.
6. Third-party processors we actually use
- Google LLC — Google Play Billing and Google Play distribution. Processes your payment and delivers the App. policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription management. Stores your purchase state against an anonymous identifier so the App can unlock and restore premium features. RevenueCat processes this on our behalf as a service provider. revenuecat.com/privacy
That is the complete list. No other company receives information from the App.
7. Legal basis and purpose
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process purchase information because it is necessary to perform the contract you enter into when you buy a subscription or the lifetime unlock (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We do not rely on consent for advertising or profiling, because we do not do either.
8. Security
All data that leaves the App travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. On-device data is held in the App's private sandbox storage, which the operating system isolates from other apps. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not hold a central database of user profiles, which means there is no such database to breach.
9. Retention
- On-device data is kept until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
- Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat and Google for as long as needed to manage your entitlement and to meet tax, accounting and fraud-prevention obligations — typically several years, as required by law.
10. Your rights and how to request deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete information about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority.
Delete your on-device data yourself, instantly
Uninstall Rotless, or go to Android Settings → Apps → Rotless → Storage → Clear data. This permanently erases your name, quiz answers, Rot Index, streak and coach messages. We cannot do this for you because we never had a copy.
Request deletion of purchase data
Email hello@vegadigital.app with the subject line “Rotless data deletion request” and include the Google account email used for the purchase, or the order ID from your Google Play receipt. We will action the request with RevenueCat and reply within 30 days. Note that Google is legally required to keep certain transaction records for tax and accounting purposes even after we delete our copy, and that deleting your purchase record may end your access to premium features.
There is nothing else to delete — the App has no account for us to close.
11. Children
Rotless is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact hello@vegadigital.app and we will delete anything we hold.
12. International transfers
Our processors (Google, RevenueCat) operate servers in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards put in place by those providers.
13. Not medical information
Rotless is a self-reflection and habit-change tool. It is not a medical or mental-health device, it does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and your Rot Index is not a clinical score or a health record. We do not treat your answers as medical data and neither should you.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change how the App handles information — for example by adding analytics, accounts or an online coach — we will update this page and change the “Last updated” date above before the new version ships. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
15. Contact
Questions, requests or complaints about privacy: hello@vegadigital.app. We aim to reply within a few business days and within 30 days at the latest.
